The crisis rocking Ekiti State took another dimension on Sunday as Soldiers in about 12 vehicles besieged Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, harassing residents in what seems like a support operation for Governor Ayodele Fayose who early in the day alleged an invasion of the state by All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers.
The soldiers, from the brigade commanded by Brigadier-General Aliyu Momoh, a General whose voice was among those that were heard on tape planning how to rig election in Fayose’s favour in what is now known as Ekitigate. The governor had earlier in the day mobilized workers, Okada riders and drivers against the APC lawmakers who are planning to impeach him. Residents were seen fleeing areas where the soldiers were operating.
