Ahead of the 2016 Olympics games, Mali’s Female National Football team has pulled out of a first round qualifying fixture for the Women’s Football Tournament against Nigeria. A letter from FIFA, Thursday evening notified the Nigeria Football Federation of the development. According to the letter, both leg matches of the 2 round are cancelled and Nigeria's women national team has automatically qualified for the 3 round matches. The world football governing body further said details regarding the 3 round will be communicated to NFF in due course.
It therefore means the Super Falcons team has qualified for the third round of the qualifiers, with the first leg coming up mid-July, ahead of a final round of qualifiers scheduled for October 2015.
