Omawumi Megbele, known simply as Omawumi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on April 13, 1982, in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. Omawumi gained widespread recognition after finishing as the runner-up in the first season of the West African reality TV show "Idols West Africa" in 2007.
Following her success on "Idols West Africa," Omawumi pursued a music career and quickly became one of Nigeria's most prominent female artists. Her unique blend of Afrobeat, soul, and R&B influences, coupled with her powerful vocals, earned her a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim.
