Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba
Former Super Eagles defender, Yisa Shofoluwe, has advised Nigeria coach, Manu Garba, not to change the team, which defeated Korea Republic 4-0 on Thursday at the ongoing FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
The Flying Eagles got their campaign at the tournament back on track after their Group E opening 4-2 loss to Brazil with a win over the Koreans, with Manu making four changes to the team from Monday’s loss.
Nigeria will on Sunday play Hungary, who lost 2-1 to Brazil Thursday, and will need a win to progress to the second round.
Shofoluwe said the team did well against the Koreans, adding that the coach learnt some lessons from the defeat by Brazil.
“It was obvious that the coach learnt from the loss in the first match and he made the changes he thought was right,” he said.
“The changes paid off and you can see the result in the match against the Koreans. I will implore him not to change the team which gave him the win.”
He added that the win against the Koreans would help the team against Hungary.
He said, “The win would have eased the tension on the boys and they will be more confident playing Hungary.
“The match won’t be easy but they should draw from their reserve of strength and unity, which saw them conquer Korea, to beat Hungary.”
