David de Gea Quintana is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He is currently a free agent. Born in Madrid and raised in nearby Illescas, De Gea began his playing career with Atlético Madrid, rising through the academy system at the club before making his senior debut in 2009, aged 18. Inter Miami president David Beckham wants to bring ex-Man Utd goalkeeper David De Gea to the US, according to the Daily Star.
De Gea has been without a club since his Old Trafford contract expired in June, which ended a 12-year spell in Manchester. The 33-year-old has been linked with various moves across Europe in the interim, but could link up with former international teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba should he move to the MLS side.
David de Gea has been offered the chance to join up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. The Spaniard, 33, has been a free agent since leaving Manchester United in the summer. A report in The Star says the goalkeeper is considering a number of offers — including one from David Beckham's Major League Soccer outfit. De Gea reportedly rejected a money-spinning deal from the Saudi Pro League in favour of a move closer to home. According to The Sun, he turned down a whopping £500,000-per-week offer to join Al Nassr, who are captained by former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo. A return to LaLiga is De Gea's preference, with both Real Betis and Valencia interested in the former Atletico Madrid custodian.
Yet the Premier League winner knows he will not earn anything close to the £350,000-per-week wage he earned at United. That appears to be the biggest stumbling block to resuming his career in Europe and could open the door to a switch to Miami.
