The new leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has vowed to take the party to a a new height that will make it a platform to beat in subsequent elections .
National Chairman of the party Dr Ikechukwu Oye said APGA is a movement that has the backing of several people promising that the party under his watch will gear towards taking its proper place in the nation’s political space.
Oye spoke at the formal handover of the party’s secretariat to him and other members of the newly inaugurated National Working Committee (NWC) by the former national chairman , Chief Victor Umeh.
He dismissed fears about the future of the party declaring that his leadership will not disappoint members . According to him the party which he said was passionately loved by several Nigerians would do everything to assert itself in the political space.
He promised to lead the reconciliation all aggrieved members of the party but cautioned that APGA would not tolerate indiscipline among members.
Oye praised the outgone leadership of Umeh for placing APGA to where it is today . He described the former Chairman as a man who worked tirelessly and who sacrificed a lot in the interest of the party.
According to him, he would always seek the advice of Umeh who is currently a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of APGA in the running of the party.
Earlier Umeh expressed satisfaction with the quality of leaders who took over from him. He stressed that the NWC of the party is made of people with vast knowledge of politics and how best to manage political parties .
The former APGA boss praised the Anambra State Governor , Chief Willie Obiano for his commitment to the development of APGA stating that it was the first time the party would produce a governor who is both spiritually and physically committed to the growth and wellbeing of the party.

Umeh identified indiscipline as the great challenge facing the party and urged the new NWC to tackle it.
He said “one of the greatest problems in our party bothers on indiscipline “. He continued ” the unactualised political ambition of a party member should not be the basis for launching attacks on the party leadership “.
On how to handle the problem he advised “to checkmate the ugly trend we have made adequate provisions in section 22 of the amended APGA Constitution on Matters of Party Discipline and Indiscipline “.
Umeh charged all members to be “loyal , patient and cooperate with the new leadership while pursuing their various aspirations through and within the party”.
