Former President Donald Trump holds a lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in three pivotal battleground states—Arizona, North Carolina, and Georgia—according to a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College.
The survey, conducted from September 17 to 21, shows Trump ahead by narrow margins: 50-45 in Arizona, 49-45 in Georgia, and 49-47 in North Carolina, with each state’s margin of error between four and five percentage points.
Voters in these states expressed significant concerns about key issues like the economy, immigration, abortion, and the overall direction of the country.
Both candidates face unfavorable perceptions, with 50% of respondents viewing Trump negatively and 51% having an unfavorable opinion of Harris. Despite the slim leads, political analysts caution that these battleground states remain highly competitive.
“Trump’s edge in states like Arizona and Georgia, which flipped in 2020, underscores how volatile the political landscape remains,” said pollster Lisa Jamison.
“But Harris’s strong presence on issues like reproductive rights could sway undecided voters, particularly women, in the final stretch.
Both candidates are intensifying their efforts in swing states. Harris recently held rallies in North Carolina and Georgia, focusing on reproductive rights, while Trump has campaigned in Arizona and North Carolina, with a rally set for Savannah, Georgia.
