The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has warned officials of the state against extortion of job seekers in the state’s civil service.

The state government had recently announced its plan to recruit science teachers and traffic officials into its workforce.

It said 10 qualified applicants each would be recruited from the 250 wards in the state.

El-Rufai made the announcement in Zaria during his second edition of the Town Hall meeting to interface with the people of the state early in August.

The governor, through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement on Friday, said no applicant should be made to pay any fee or buy form for the recruitment.

According him, they(applicants) are simply required to submit their applications as advertised in the media.

He noted that any request or acts amounting to obstructing or hindering citizens from the smooth submission of their applications should be considered as illegal.

El-Rufai added, “The Kaduna State Government has announced that applicants for recently advertised job openings in its teaching service and traffic enforcement agency are not required to pay any fees or buy any forms. They are simply required to submit their applications at the advertised places.

“Further to its advertisement, inviting applications from members of the public willing to work as teachers or Traffic and Environmental Enforcement Officers, the Kaduna State Government reiterates the following:

“As clearly stated in the adverts, applications by those seeking teaching jobs, should be addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education.

“Applicants for Traffic and Environmental Enforcement Officer positions should submit their applications to their Local Government Council Chairman.

“Applicants are not required to pay any fees or submit any forms, other than their application letters and relevant documents.

“Any request for money or acts amounting to obstructing or hindering citizens from smooth submission of their applications is illegal.”
