As a wig lover, I have at least five wigs at home of different lengths and styles. I can say that I have figured out my own way to clean and maintain wigs. Especially when it comes to drying after washing, I have really tried various methods, such as using a hair dryer, air drying, and even trying a dryer when I was in a hurry (don't learn from me!).
In the end, I found that the most suitable method for most wigs is air drying.
Why Do I Recommend Air Drying?
Reduce Damage
Although the hair dryer is fast, the high temperature will cause damage to the cuticle of the wig strands, especially for synthetic fiber wigs, which may become rough after using the hair dryer once. Air drying does not have this problem, and can keep the wig smooth and its original luster.
Maintain the Shape
Some
curly wigs. Using a hair dryer can easily blow away these natural textures, resulting in the need to re-style. But if it is dried naturally, the wig will return to its original shape by itself. For me, this is especially important for those wigs with water waves or big curls.
Simple and Convenient
I usually wash the wig, gently press it with a towel to absorb excess water, and then hang the wig on the wig stand and put it in a well-ventilated place to dry. There is no need to worry about temperature control or watch it, which is a blessing for lazy people!
Tips for Natural Drying
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Sunlight looks natural, but direct sunlight will fade the color of the wig, especially real hair wigs.
Use a wig stand: This can keep the shape of the wig and will not deform due to long-term placement.
Ventilation is important: Don't put it in a humid place, such as the bathroom.
My Personal Experience
I remember the first time I washed my
human hair wig, in order to let it dry quickly, I took a hair dryer to blow it for a long time, and as a result, a fluffy big wave wig turned directly into an "explosive head". I was really distressed for a long time. Since then, I never dared to use a hair dryer again, and began to seriously study natural drying. Now, my wigs last longer and look more natural after air drying.
So, girls, if you are still struggling with how to dry your wig after washing it, I strongly recommend air drying it! Not only can it protect the wig, but it can also save a lot of effort. After all, who doesn't want to use a wig longer?
