As a wig lover, I always like to try different types of wigs, both in style and design. Recently, a friend asked me, which one is better, a
4x4 closure wig or a 13x4 lace front wig? I thought about it; there is actually no standard answer; it depends entirely on your needs and daily usage habits. Today, based on my personal experience, I will talk to you about the advantages and disadvantages of these two wigs, as well as my choice experience.
Let’s talk about 4x4 wigs first: simple, convenient, and cost-effective
My first wig was a 4x4 because it is very friendly to beginners. The lace area of 4x4 wigs is relatively small, covering only an area in the middle of the forehead (about 4 inches wide and 4 inches long). This also means that it is very simple to install and does not require too much skill at all—especially for people like me who are clumsy!
Advantages:
Affordable price: Compared with 13x4, 4x4 is much cheaper, which is very friendly to friends with limited budgets.
- Easy to care: The lace area is small, which saves time and effort to care for.
- Suitable for daily wear: It is enough to wear it when going out or working every day; it is simple, generous, and natural.
Disadvantages:
Because the lace area is small, the styling options are limited, and you can only part it in the middle or slightly adjust the parting line. If you like all kinds of updos or side-parted styles, you may feel a little restricted.
Let's talk about the 13x4 wig: versatile, flexible, and highly natural
After getting familiar with the wearing skills of wigs, I decided to upgrade and try the 13x4 wig. The lace of this wig has a wider coverage, and the 13-inch wide and 4-inch long area can almost cover the entire forehead. When I put on the 13x4 wig for the first time, I was really a little surprised: this wig is as natural as if it were tailor-made!
Advantages:
- Various styles: You can change the parting line at will, do a middle part, a side part, or even a half-tied hair or a bun.
- More natural: The lace covers a wider range and fits the scalp better, and others can hardly tell that you are wearing a wig.
- More advanced: For those who attend important occasions or need exquisite styling, a 13x4 lace front wig is undoubtedly a better choice.
Disadvantages:
The price is high, and the installation and maintenance time is longer than 4x4. If you are in a hurry to go out or just go to the supermarket, wearing 13x4 may be a bit "exaggerated.".
