CAPE TOWN – Stars of Nigeria’s local entertainment scene are hoping for a new kind of revolution after the Nigerian Digital Music Monitoring Group is launched on Thursday.
Chinedu Chukwuji, general manager of the Copyright Society of Nigeria, said: “It is our belief that this group, which has some of the best brains in the creative sector, will bring about the revolution our industry craves for.”
The creation of the monitoring group, which will include top music industry executives, copyright experts, government agencies and representatives of telecommunications operators, was one of the major resolutions adopted at the recent Nigerian Digital Music Summit.
The summit, organised in the face of rampant counterfeiting in the local entertainment sector, had the theme, ‘Establishing the Basic Rules of Engagement in the Digital Environment’. – African News Agency (ANA)
