If you have worn curly wig, you should know that the beautiful curls when you just bought it will start to deform, tangle, or even become a frizzy, which is really maddening. I have experienced this trouble before and tried various methods. Finally, I found that "soaking in water + styling" is the best method, especially for wigs with loose curls or deformed curls. Today, let's talk about how to do it in detail.
Soaking in water + styling: a simple way to restore the elasticity of curly hair
Step 1: Prepare warm water, don't use hot water!
First find a basin and fill it with warm water (about 40°C). Be careful not to make it too hot. After all, wigs are not your real hair. Too high a temperature will damage the hair.
Step 2: Soak for 10-15 minutes to let the wig absorb water
Put your
curly wig in, don't rub it, and don't rub it like washing clothes! Just let it soak quietly in the water and let the water slowly penetrate into the hair.
Step 3: Gentle washing to remove dust and residue
After soaking in water, you can gently wash it with a little sulfate-free shampoo, especially if the wig has been worn for a long time, it is inevitable that it will be stained with dust or styling product residue.
Step 4: Conditioner comes on stage to make the curls more elastic
Although the wig does not grow on the scalp, it still needs proper moisturizing. I usually use a little leave-in conditioner, especially on the ends of the hair, to make the hair smoother. Don't apply too much conditioner, otherwise the wig will become greasy and heavy, affecting the elasticity of the curls.
Step 5: Press with a towel to absorb water, and don't rub it hard!
After washing, you cannot rub it with a towel like you normally do when washing real hair. Instead, use a clean T-shirt or microfiber towel to gently press and absorb excess water.
Step 6: Drying + styling to restore the curls
Put the wig on the wig stand to dry naturally. Do not blow it with hot air from a hair dryer, otherwise the curls will be deformed. I usually use a diffuser + cold air setting to gently dry it, which can maintain the shape of the curls and avoid frizz.
I have used this method many times, and every time I can restore the wig to look like new. Moreover, this method is simple and will not damage the
human hair wig. Compared with directly using a curling iron to heat and shape the wig, it causes much less damage to the wig.
