To be honest, when I first started wearing wigs, I was completely confused by the various types of wigs. Lace wig, layer wig, U-part wig... the names are so strange that every time I choose one, it's like solving a puzzle. Later, after wearing it more, I slowly figured it out. I recently tried a layer wig and found it quite special. It's a good opportunity to compare it with a regular wig and talk about my experience.
What is a Layered Wig?
A layered wig, as the name suggests, is a "layered wig". Its hair is cut in different layers, creating a natural fluffy and flowing feeling, just like you have gone to the barber shop to get it done. This wig is especially suitable for people who like light and casual hairstyles, such as layered short hair or medium-length hair. In contrast, regular wigs are usually single lengths, and although you can trim them yourself, they are not so convenient to take care of.
Layer Wig vs. Ordinary Wig: Wearing Experience Comparison
1. Style
Ordinary wigs are generally more "regular" and will not have too many natural hair changes when worn, especially long hairstyles, which may be a bit dull. Layer wigs have their own layers, and they are very airy with just a casual touch, which makes them look more flexible and will not make the wig look "rigid".
2. Difficulty of Care
Ordinary wigs usually need to be slightly adjusted with curling rods, clips, or scissors to create a more natural effect, while layered
glueless wigs have their own style, which saves a lot of trouble in care; especially when you are in a hurry in the morning, you can just wear it and go out.
3. Suitable Occasions
Ordinary wigs are suitable for some formal occasions, such as creating exquisite straight hair or big waves. Layered wigs are a more daily style, especially suitable for casual street style and natural lazy style, just like just coming out of the salon.
4. Wearing Comfort
This actually depends on the quality of the wig. If it is a fully hand-woven lace wig, its breathability will be better than that of ordinary machine-woven wigs. If the layer wig is made by machine, it may be a bit stuffy after wearing it for a long time. However, many layer wigs are now beginning to adopt breathable lace structures, which greatly improves the comfort.
My Personal Recommendation
If you are a lazy person like me, who likes a natural fluffy feeling and doesn't want to spend too much time taking care of it, a layered wig will be a good choice. Especially for short hairstyles, you can have the lightness of the heroine in Korean dramas when you wear it, which is really convenient! But if you pursue specific styles such as super long straight hair and retro curly hair, ordinary wigs may be more suitable for you because you can freely shape them according to your needs.
