Why Does Your Lace Closure Wig Looks Fake

raniy0516raniy0516 Posts: 23
A few years ago, when I first started to get into wigs, I chose a lace closure wig. At that time, I thought I had picked up a great bargain because it was relatively affordable and said to be "realistic and natural." But after putting it on, I always felt something was weird, the hairline was stiff, and the hair didn't fit well. My friends even joked that I looked like I was wearing a "fake headpiece." During that time, I really lost confidence in wigs.

Here are several reasons why lace closure wigs look unnatural:

1. The Hairline is Not Realistic
The hairline of my first 4x4 lace closure wig was too neat, as if it was drawn. Later, I learned that a truly natural hairline should have some small stray hairs and irregular shapes. That wig didn't have this kind of detail processing at all, and it looked too fake.

2. The color of The Wig Didn't Match My Skin Color
My skin color is darker, and the lace color of the wig is light beige, which is particularly conspicuous against the scalp. Later, I learned to choose lace colors that are close to my skin color, or to slightly adjust the lace color with makeup, which improved a lot. Now a HD lace 5x5 closure wig is my farvorite one.

3. Wrong Wearing Method.
At first, I just put on the wig casually without any adjustment. In fact, the wig needs to be fixed with a small comb or hairpins, and the position should be adjusted to fit the head shape and avoid the wig "floating" on the head.

Through continuous trial and error, I finally found the trick to make the wig more natural. For example, when buying, I will give priority to styles with pre-plucked hairlines, which look more realistic when worn. Also, if the lace part is too obvious, I will use some light foundation to cover the lace edge to make it blend better with my skin color.

Looking back now, I understand that the "natural" wig is not only a matter of selection, but also requires a little skill and patience. If you are also worried about the wig not being natural enough, you might as well try to adjust the color, hairline treatment and wearing method, and the effect may surprise you. After all, who doesn’t want to have a flawless look that looks “seamless”?
