Every year Japanese Government offers scholarships to international students from developing countries (Nigeria included) for undergraduate, postgraduate and research studies in Japan under
the Japanese Government
(Monbukagakusho) Scholarship program established in 1954.
- Recommended by a Japanese embassy or
consulate general (Embassy Recommendation).
Those wishing to apply for a scholarship should meet one of the criteria
listed below:
- Recommended by the Japanese university
which will accept you (University Recommendation).
- Selected by the Japanese university in which you are currently
enrolled if you are a privately-financed student already studying
in Japan (Domestic Selection).
You should know that academic studies in Japan are mostly conducted in Japanese language. However, there some Japanese universities like Hokkaido University and University of Tokyo conducts some of their programs in English as the primary mode of instruction. The Japanese Government scholarship is a very good scholarship that grantees and pays for your flight ticket to and fro Japan with monthly stipend for living in Japan for your entire stay in Japan.
