Nigerians won’t forget Jonathan’s misrule – Keyamo

Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo, has said the All Progressives Congress is not giving excuses for failure by reminding Nigerians of the misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party under former President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Monday, Keyamo said it was unfortunate that the PDP, which blamed the military rule for its inability to perform while in power, “now wants Nigerians to forget its misrule in just five months.”

“For 16 years, the PDP blamed the rot of military rule for its inability to perform (in government) yet it wants us to forget its misrule in just five months,” Keyamo said.

It will be recalled that the senator representing Bayelsa-East senatorial district, Ben Murray-Bruce, had slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for blaming the PDP for the country’s woes.

Murray-Bruce, a PDP senator, said on Sunday, “Blaming others is a sign of helplessness. A numero uno should not blame. He must take responsibility for leading us out of troubled waters. Blaming others is a sign of helplessness. You can blame your predecessor for your problems for so long. After six months, so long becomes too long.”

But Keyamo said the APC’s criticisms of the immediate past government only showed the progress the country has made.

He said, “The APC is not giving an excuse for failure by reminding Nigerians of the dark days of the PDP. It is only indicating the progress we are making by comparative analysis. From the clear intention of President Buhari, no minister-designate is ever expecting to assume office and go on a spending jamboree.

“Gone are the days when people drop the name of the President to collect bribes in MDAs. Nobody can say that for Buhari. Gone are the days when we hear of tales of those who pay dollars to middlemen just to have access to the (Aso) Villa.”

The Lagos lawyer said although the APC was not perfect, it was doubtful if Nigerians would ever vote the PDP into power again.

He said the problems the PDP faced in its effort to rubbish the anti-corruption war of the President was because the opposition party “has no leader with a strong moral fibre to lead the assault.”
