DEPUTY President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Issa Aremu, has blamed Ndigbo and Afenifere leaders for the recent rise in campaign for self-actualisation, which he said is a threat to the unity of Nigeria.
Aremu said that the inability of the leaders and parents to instill patriotic virtues to Nigerian youths have led to the various calls for secession in the country, adding that Ndigbo and Afenifere leaders have failed to promote the culture of a united Nigeria under which they had benefited.
Commending the struggle by First Republic nationalists like the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Tafawa Balewa, Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo to keep Nigeria as a united country, Aremu said it was unfortunate that some prominent leaders of Ndigbo and Afenifere now sponsor the youth to promote division in the country.
Besides, Aremu said that failed parenting and some actions of these leaders were responsible for the insecurity and social vices now being experienced across the country.
