THE governorship candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Mr Pius Waritimi has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress(APC) cannot be entrusted with the destiny of Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation.
Waritimi also stated that the bane of development problem in Bayelsa for the past 19 years is as a result of poor leadership.
According to him, he is saddened with the state of things in Bayelsa because inept leadership has been at the helm of affairs in the state since 1999 which would change with the December 5, governorship elections as Bayelsans would vote the DPP.
Waritimi who disclosed that he has had personal relationships with the APC candidate, former governor Timipre Sylva and the incumbent Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson of the PDP said they lacked the vision to transform Bayelsa.
He said his party if voted into power would transform the state and restore its lost glory with pragmatic programmes in the areas of Agriculture, education, rural development, human empowerment and diversification of the economy.
Waritimi explained that his campaign organisation would soon flag off its campaigns and sell its programmes to the people.
He enjoined Bayelsans to ensure they protect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to vote out the PDP and reject the APC as both parties do not have the interest of Bayelsans in their manifesto.
“DPP is the party to change the PDP as from February 14, 2016. Bayelsans should vote out the PDP and reject the APC as both parties are not Bayelsans need to develop. Bayelsans should safeguard their PVC and ensure they vote and wait to see that their votes count. DPP would soon go from one local government to the other to campaign. DPP which I bear the flag stands for justice for all and the emancipation of the people from the shackles of poverty. We would embark on infrastructural projects that are people-oriented. We would ensure constant electricity, good roads, agricultural revolution, health care and welfare for pensioners”, he said.
