The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has slammed a N18 million fine on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) following electrocution of an eight-year-old child at Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, FCT.
The deceased, Faith Yakubuwhich, was electrocuted within the company’s distribution franchise area, NERC said.
In a statement from the Public Affairs Office of NERC, the Commission in a resolution, uphold recommendations of its Panel Report of Accident Investigation which found the distribution company liable of negligence.
The NERC Public Affairs office stated that the resolution of the Commission on the accident is: “AEDC shall pay N18, 000, 000 as compensation to the family of Faith Yakubu and communicate same to the Commission accordingly.”
