Members of the National Assembly have been called upon to hasten the debate and recommendation for payment of stipends to members of the Nigerian civil war veterans on the registered name of the Care First for the Aged Welfare Development Association of Nigeria as promised by the Presidency.
The plea was contained in a release jointly issued on behalf of the body by its National Chairman, Dr. Ubi Ikoi and Secretary, Ray Chime, at the associations head office in Enugu.
The veterans stated that they were at present compiling names of all the living members of the group, who fought in the civil war of 1967 – 1970, for onward submission to National Aseembly as directed, by legislators’ recommendation to the Presidency for payment.
