The Senate has debunked an allegation of conspiracy against the All Progressives Congress (APC) senators to handover the Senate to the minority People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Its Spokesman, Sen. Sabi Abdullahi, told newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday that “the bi-partisan stand of the Hallowed Chamber would not in any way impede on its legislative duties’’.
He said that the allegation was a `figment’ of the imagination of those behind the news, stressing that the Senate was committed to providing robust legislation.
“The Senate wishes to state categorically that there is no conspiracy of any nature among distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He expressed optimism that with the inauguration of the Federal Executive Council, the policy direction of the present APC administration would soon be rolled out to cover all sectors.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekwerenmadu, on Wednesday presided over plenary when the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki attended the inauguration of ministers.
Saraki, however, returned midway and took over.
