AREWA Consultative Forum (ACF) yesterday urged the Federal Government to immediately stop the attempt of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and other pro-Biafran groups to plunge the country into another civil war.
ACF National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim said in a statement in Kaduna yesterday, that “the attention of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has been drawn to an unfortunate incident of fracas between some members of the Arewa Community at Elelenwa junction, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and MASSOB members on Tuesday November 11, 2015.”
Meanwhile the meeting of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Igbo leaders and South East governors convened at the instance of Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, and other stakeholders, in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has been shifted to Enugu on Tuesday, November 17.
Okorocha, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo said the postponement was informed by the need for all those expected at the meeting to be in attendance.
Ibrahim continued: “ACF learnt that the MASSOB hoodlums were alleged to have disrupted the peace in the cattle market at Elelenwa junction, Port Harcourt, where shops and valuable property were alleged been looted and destroyed,” Ibrahim said.
According to him, “the MASSOB demonstrators have of recent been disrupting peace in some parts of the south eastern states under the guise of demanding for a Biafra Republic out of the Nigerian Nation, which is unacceptable.”
