ABDUCTORS of mother of the Bayelsa State All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Wilberforce Igiri, have freed the 105-year-old matriarch.
Madam Ebifieghe Bikoroghe Igiri was snatched at gunpoint about two weeks ago from her country home in the Foropa area of Southern Ijaw Local Council of the state.
Details relating to release of the centenarian remain sketchy, as the police authorities in the state did not indicate whether ransom was paid.
The state’s Police Command, while confirming her freedom, only said she was hale and hearty.
The spokesman for the command, Asinim Butswat, said: “ Madam Ebifieghe Bikoroghe Igiri, 105 years, who was abducted on October 29, 2015 was released by her captors on November 9.
“She was set free at about 2200hrs at Ayama Waterside, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
“She is hale and hearty and has been reunited with her family.”
The police, in the statement, added that efforts had been intensified to arrest the kidnappers.
