Barely a week to winding up of the military panel investigating alleged involvement in partisan politics by some soldiers and officers during the 2014/ 2015 gubernatorial elections conducted in some States such as Ekiti, Osun, Rivers and Akwa-Ibom, no memorandum has been received from members of the public.

Briefing newsmen yesterday, President of the panel who is the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Headquarters, One Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade said the panel would not entertain any petition at the end of its sitting on November 20, 2015.

The 5-man panel which is sitting in Kaduna has Col. Danladi Salihu as the secretary, other members include, Brigadier General Emmanuel Kabuk, Brigadier General Sunday Araoye, and Brigadier General Baba Ibrahim.

However, Major General Oyebade said a good number of men and officers of the Nigerian Army appeared before the panel yesterday as invited by the panel.

“We have invited quite a number of men and officers to appear before the panel, and they have actually appeared before the panel.
“We have interrogated them so far, they cut across junior and senior officers.
“But we yet to receive petitions, memorandum from the general public on this matter, and we are calling on members of the public to make their presentation to us.

“We are assuring members of the public that they have no reason to worry about their safety. And time is not on our side because by Friday, 20th November will be the final date to receive any memorandum”. He said.
