HOLMES Inter-school Competition (HISC) recently kicked off at the LSPDC Estate Mini Stadium, Ile Ewe Meta, Isolo, Lagos State amid fanfare.
Participating schools taking part in the competition are contesting in sports, essay writing, quiz, debate, dance, drama among others. Deputy Executive Secretary of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Elder S.O Ogunlolu, who represented the council’s Executive Secretary, Segun Jubril, described the competition as a laudable development aimed at spotting talents in children.
He advised them to be good ambassadors of their schools while displaying great spirit of sportmanship.
“This exercise is aimed at imbuing children with healthy spirit of competition, modify their behaviours, make them become physically fit and well equipped with skills that would bring out the best in them.”
In his remarks at the event, Co-ordinator of HISC, Ikwuagwu Emeka George, said that the competition, which has come to stay, would help in showcasing great the talents that abound in schools.
“This event is organised in conjunction with Isolo LCDA. I would like to use this medium to encourage children to strive to be the best, maximise this opportunity and use it to their advantage.”
