Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has constructed 50 Caring Heart Mega Schools since he assumed office in 2009 in addition to the payment of bursaries to students and award of scholarship worth N2bilion.
The Caring Heart Mega Schools built and equipped with modern facilities were constructed by the Mimiko Government to meet the standards of being child friendly schools as well as provide quality education for students in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, who disclosed this while briefing journalists in Akure, weekend, said the aim of the mega schools is to imbibe social integration among school children, so as to grow without division of social status.
“This means that the major objective is to close the gap between the rich and the poor in the society,” he said adding that the concept would enable the beneficiaries of the Caring Heart Mega Schools to compete favourably with their counterparts outside the shores of the country.
He said the state government has also embarked on the renovation of 97 primary and 240 secondary schools across the 18 local government areas of the state, while some have also undergone full renovation.
