The female bursar of Rivers State Polytechnic Bori, Lilian Ikombia Davies, and a lecturer in the department of management sciences of the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Iba Lebari, have been reportedly kidnapped at different locations in the state on their way home after work.

The bursar of the now Kenule Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic Bori, may have been trailed from Bori before intercepting her at Akpajo-Eleme, along the East-West road in Eleme local government area of Rivers state on Monday, November 16.

On the other hand, the Uniport lecturer was said to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen at the close of work on the same day Davies was also abducted.

Since their abduction on Monday, the whereabouts of the victims remained unknown.

The management of the University of Port Harcourt in a reaction condemned the kidnap of Lebari and called for his unconditional release.

In a statement issued by the deputy registrar on behalf of the institution, Williams Wodi said the kidnapped lecturer had some medical issues that needed regular medication and should not be in solitary confinement.

As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether the Rivers police command had made any official statements over the two abductions.

It would be recalled that the state governor, Nyesom Wike, threatened that he will personally hand in any of his political appointees that is found to be engaging in acts of corruption while in office and that he would personally hand them over to the anti-corruption enforcement agencies.
