The Independent National Electoral Commission said on Friday night that it had distributed election materials amid tight security ahead of today’s governorship election in Kogi State.
The electoral body also assured of free and fair election in the state.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Halilu Pai, said that 239 e-collation centres had been established to ensure a fast and efficient collation process.
According to him, technical officers will be deployed to fix any error arising from malfunctioned card readers.
It was, however, learnt that a total number of 13,000 ad hoc workers have been trained for three day to ensure effective conduct of the governorship election.
Pai said a total number of 1,397,786 voters registered in the 21 local government areas of the state.
According to SaharaReporters, INEC officials received sensitive election materials in Lokoja on Thursday and then escorted them to various locations with tight security.
“The materials distributed include ballot papers and result sheets,” the REC said.
