The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule on Friday said that she would not disappoint her fellow educationists in her role as Commissioner of Education in the state.
Adebule, who also heads the state’s education ministry, made the promise when a delegation from the Faculty of Education, Lagos State University (LASU) paid her a courtesy visit at Alausa, Ikeja.
She said that the state government was doing a lot in the education sector but there was still much more to be done, urging education stakeholders to support her in moving it forward.
“The Lagos State Government recognises the place of education, which is why it has been doing so much in terms of physical infrastructure and human resources, to meet the state’s education priorities.
“But there is still more to be done. This is where we need your prayers, support, experience, knowledge, ideas and suggestions to improve the education sector.
“I am glad that my fellow educationists, constituency and my teachers are here to see me to lend their support and make sure that I do not disappoint them.
“I am open to your suggestions and I assure you that I will not disappoint you or bring your name to disrepute, ” Adebule said.
In her remarks, Prof. Ayodeji Badejo, Dean, Faculty of Education, LASU, who led the delegation, congratulated the Deputy Governor on her appointment as the Commissioner of Education.
“We have no doubt that you are equal to the task and we shall support you in every way to move forward education in Lagos State,” she said.
