In a recent visit the inspector general of police (IGP), Solomon Arase, paid to the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, at his residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, the ex-president used the opportunity to say that Nigeria is grossly under-policed.
The visit, according to Arase, was made when Arase was in the state to see his officers and inspect the level of preparations during the burial of Hannah Awolowo.
In a report by Premium Times, the former President Obasanjo was said to have frowned at what he described as indiscriminate posting of police officers as orderlies.
Commending Arase’s regime, Obasanjo said that his administration had put in efforts to bring back the lost glory of the police.
Obasanjo reiterated the call for community policing in the country and reformation of the force.
The police boss also went further to visit the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
