NDOKWA youths, under the aegis of Coalition of Ndokwa Youth Leaders, have commenced moves to recall Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Friday Osanebi, over alleged collection and diversion of N1.4 billion meant for the youths.

The youths are accusing the Deputy Speaker of pocketing the said N1.4 billion meant for them, which they claimed, he collected from Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, without remitting same to them.

But reacting, Mr Osanebi described the allegation as false and unfounded.

In a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr Michael Nwabueze, Osanebi said it was not true and not possible for him to have collected N20 million or any sum of money meant for youths security when there was a ministry and directorate charged with youths development in Delta State.

The youths, who addressed newsmen in Asaba, through the President-General of the coalition, Mr. Alexander Agha, alleged that Osanebi collected N20 million monthly from DESOPADEC from 2011 till date which amounted to N1.4 billon, without any reference to the youths.
Agha alleged that the N20 million monthly from DESOPADEC “is for the purpose of empowering of youths in Ndokwaland as a way of ensuring peace and security in the oil-rich area.”

Noting that the coalition recently discovered that Osanebi had allegedly been collecting the money without remitting same for the purpose it was meant, the youth leader told the lawmaker to “hands off youth activities and face the business of legislation which he is elected to do.”

Accusing Osanebi, who represents Ndokwa East in the House of not moving any motion on the floor of the House, Agha alleged; “Osanebi is not good enough for Ndokwa East people. We are not progressing, we are not feeling the impact of his representation.”
