DEPARTMENT of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in the South East yesterday, sealed 80 filling stations in Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra states .
They allegedly violated ethical practices which affected supply of petrol in the states.
A breakdown of affected fuel stations showed that 45 filling stations were sealed in Anambra State while 23 and 12 filling stations were shut down in Enugu and Ebonyi states respectively.
The prevailing scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which has lasted for about two weeks, has affected the cost of transport, food, commodities, services and general cost of living in the zone.
But while briefing newsmen at their Emene office in Enugu, Operations Controller in charge of Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states, Mr. Peter Ijeh assured motorists and residents that DPR will rout out major and independent petroleum marketers who hoard, adulterate and divert products in the region.
