MASSOB slams Fasheun, others for attending Ojukwu memorial

A faction of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra, on Saturday, expressed strong disapproval to the presence of the Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Dr. Fredrick Fasheun, and some northern leaders at a memorial in honour of the late leader of the defunct Republic of Biafra, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

According to a statement by the group’s National Director of Information, Uchenna Madu, and Emma Powerful of the IPOB, a joint meeting of pro-Biafra leaders and groups, condemned the MASSOB leader, Ralph Uwazuruike, for alleging that the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, made treasonable comments against the Nigerian state.

The groups said, “That statement is indirectly encouraging the Nigeria government to continue in their detention and prosecution of Kanu, the current Biafra hero. Uwazuruike’s call for Kanu’s release was hypocritical because his body language and the utterances of his spokesmen prove otherwise.

“The IPOB and MASSOB faction also condemn in totality the attendance of Dr. Fredrick Fasheun and over 70 Hausa/Fulani leaders, led by Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), as the special guest of honour to a ceremony to which Ojukwu’s name and image was attached.

“We see the so-called Ojukwu ceremony as a move to strengthen the agreement of oneness of Nigeria signed by Uwazuruike, Fasheun, Hamza Al-Mustapha, Yerima Shettima (President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum) and Asari Dokubo, among others, in September 2013 at Uwazuruike’s residence in Owerri.”

The pro-Biafra groups further condemned the attendance of “over 70 Hausa/Fulani brothers of President Buhari to Uwazuruike’s diminished ceremony” and termed it “an open evidence that he has sold himself and his followers to the Hausa-Fulani, the enemies of Ndigbo.”
