THE Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has taken its non-oil products’ export campaign to Delta State with an appeal to local producers to focus their attention in that regard.
NEPC’s Chief Executive Officer, Olusegun Awolowo who gave the charge in Ughelli at the weekend during a one-day workshop on the “Legal Aspects of Export Contract” organised in conjunction with the Ughelli Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, (UCCIMA), stressed the economic benefits of non-oil exports to the nation in this period of lean proceeds from oil.
He said the council had developed a “One State, One Product” project aimed at producing competitive commodities in which each state has a comparative advantage.
“Key products and alternative products have been identified for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in collaboration with state Ministries of Commerce, Agriculture, Industry and Rural Development.
“This workshop is conceived to assist exporters and prospective exporters who have difficulties in coming to terms with the different procedures and terminologies associated with negotiating an export contract,” Awolowo clarified.
Other speakers at the event include Secretary, NEPC Governing Board, Dr. Ezra Yakusak and Dr. Augustine Agom.
