1. Report says gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Kamuya village, near the border between Borno and Yobe states. 7 civilians were reportedly killed and others abducted.
2. The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has expressed hope that the precarious fuel situation in the country will soon be over. This assurance was given in Lagos on Friday by the South-West Chairman of the union, Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo. He said massive loading of petroleum products has commenced at different depots in the state and other parts of the country.
3. The Appeal Court sitting in Kaduna State has upheld the election of Governor Nasir El-Rufai as the governor of the State. The presiding judge, Justice I. M. Saulawa while passing judgment on the case, said it lacked merit. He consequently struck out the case.
4. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has stated that government ministries, departments and agencies must pay for electricity they consume under his administration. He was speaking on Friday while an additional 220 megawatts was dispatched to Egbin Power Plant in Lagos.
5. Ivory Coast midfielder, Yaya Toure, has been voted the BBC African Footballer of the Year 2015. Toure claimed the prize ahead of Andre Ayew, Yacine Brahimi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane.
6. President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday reiterated that there will be no hiding places for corrupt officials, as his government was ready to strengthen the law against corruption. He was speaking at the Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation lecture in Abuja.
7. Former Accounts Officer II in the Office of the former National Security Adviser, ONSA, Ibrahim Idris Wambai has disclosed that the Office of the former Vice President, Namadi Sambo received a monthly stipend of N20m from the ONSA. He disclosed that many prominent Nigerians and leaders also got huge sums from ONSA during the leadership of Dsauki.
8. Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has called on Nigerians to thank God for delivering the country from the hands of Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The governor said Buhari inherited an ailing country from Jonathan on May 29, 2015, and that Jonathan almost destroyed the country. He was speaking at the opening of a three-day retreat organised for State House correspondents in Kaduna.
9. Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have ambushed soldiers conveying foodstuff to troops in Bama-Ngurosoye, Borno state. This was disclosed by the Army Spokesperson, Sani Usman. He said corpses of a soldier and a civilian were recovered after the attack. He, however, said the area has now been cleared of the insurgents.
10. Contrary to earlier report in the media, the Appeal Court on Friday upheld the election of former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpbabio as a Senator elected into the National Assembly in the last election.
