Some soldiers of the Nigerian military are said to have stormed communities in Delta state in search of militants. The invasion of the soldiers in Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities in Udu and Warri South-West Local Government Areas of Delta state have reportedly caused tension in the area. This situation, residents said arose after a continued land dispute between the communities. Some of the residents are said to be moving out with the families for fear of intimidation or brutalization by the soldiers.
A resident of the community, Ighotegulor Bezi said the Delta state government is responsible for the crisis. Bezi said the government represented by Abednego Ekokotu, a professor and chairman of Panel on Disputed Land, of allegedly apportioned a large expanse of land to Aladja The professor also begged the governor Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene in the matter by directing Ekokotu to return and complete his job which include demarcation, delineation and survey, in the interest of peace.
