FIFA U-17 World Cup record top scorer Victor Osimhen has raised the alarm over the activities of fraudster on social media platform Facebook using his name and profile to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
Osimhen, a 2015 U-17 World Cup winner, said several people had paid various sums of money to these fraudsters, a situation he said has left him worried.
“I’m saddened by this development. I know how difficult it is for people to come across money in Nigeria. To then be deceived to part with their hard-earned money with my name is very painful to me. I want to state clearly that I will never solicit for money from anyone under any guise on any social media platform. If anyone does this using my name and image, please report them to the police,” the 17-year-old said.
Osimhen operates active accounts on Twitter and Instagram using the
@victorosimhen9 handles but he says he cannot open a Facebook account due to the activities of the fraudulent people.
