There is pandemonium in Rumuolumeni community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers state following the alleged invasion of ritualists in the area.
Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers state has a lot to do to rid the state of criminal elements
According to Leadership, residents of the area discovered the remains of an unidentified man in a bush, close to the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) with his manhood missing.A source quoted in the report but pleaded anonymity, said the deceased looked like a Fulani herdsman, adding he was most likely dragged into the bush and clubbed to death.“A corpse was found this morning in a bush around Eagle Cement Company. The body looks like a Fulani man. Policemen from Rumuolumeni Police Station have taken the body,” the source said.
Rivers state has been a den for ritualists, cultists, kidnappers and the likes for a while.
A prominent lawyer and rights activist in the state was recently killed and this action has elicited anger in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Meanwhile, a cult group raided Eteo community in Eleme local government area of Rivers state, killing scores of people, including a pregnant woman.
The raid was carried out in the night of Saturday, October 15. The community has become a ghost town as residents have deserted the community seeking refuge at Ogale, Alode, Alesa and Agbonchia communities, all in Eleme local government area of the state.
In July, Governor Nyesome Wike personally led a team of security personnel to demolish slums where criminals and cultists hibernated in the state. The demolition exercise took place in Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor local government areas. But the governor’s action seem not to have detered criminal elements in the state.
