It’s green light as Ambode tours Lagos
The tour of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to parts of Lagos has shown positive signals if the account of party followers is anything to go by.
Ambode is a front-line contender for the All Progressive Congress(APC) ticket in Lagos State. Since the beginning of this week, leaders of the APC in Ikorodu, Alimosho, Badagry, Ojo, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Ikeja and Agege local governments areas of the state adopted him ahead of the gubernatorial primaries in December.
Amobode is currently on the last lap of his tour of the 20 Local Governemt Areas (LGA) and the 37 Local Council Development Ares (LCDA).
At the enlarged meeting in Ikorodu, Prince Olu Ogunleye led other notable leaders like Olorunfemi Bashiru, State to the State Government government(SSG) under the Lateef Jakande administration, Kaoli Olusanyan and Mrs Aderenle Ogunsanya , SSG to the Babatunde Raji Fashola administration among others to welcome Ambode to Ikorodu. Speaking at the meeting, Ambode told the gathering that his bid to govern Lagos was borne out of his passion to use his energy to take Lagos to the next level.
The candidate promised to return government back to the people of Lagos through the strengthening of the LGAs and the LCDAs in order to take government nearer to the people. He assured further that the manifesto of the party for the welfare of the people would guide all his actions if he got the mandate from Lagosians.
Ambode noted that he chose to kick off his local government tour from Ikorodu because of the socio-economic importance of the Local government to Lagos.
Responding, Ogunleye assured Ambode that leaders in the local government have no doubts about his ability to rule Lagos and promised him their support.
At the Alimosho Local government Area, which is reputed to be one of the biggest local governments in Nigeria, High Chief Solomon Ogundola a.k.a (Adinmula) led other leaders of the party like Titi Adebayo, the women leader, Alhaji Waheed Orire, Alhaji Abdulahi Enilolonbo, Alhaji Yisa Yusuf, Hon. Femi Adebanjo, Olusegun to receive the aspirant.
While addressing party leaders and faithful who gathered to meet with him, Ambode reminded them that he was not a stranger to the council, having served as treasurer of the Local government for three years.
He expressed his total commitment to the advancement of the LGA and pleaded that the leaders should support him. He promised to open up the local government and provide opportunities for the people including youth and women if he got the mandate of the people to serve.
In his response, Chief Ogunsola described Alimosho as the “country home” of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the National leader of the APC.
He pointed out that the local government produces the chunk of votes which determine who becomes the governor of Lagos state and assured the visitor of the support of the local government.
At Badagry, Ambode was welcomed by Sunny Ajose, a former Head of Service who led other notable leaders of the APC in the LGA to pledge their support for him.
The former Accountant Genersl for the State expressed his readiness to take Lagos to higher heights if given the opportunity to govern.
He reminded the people of Badagry that he was familiar with the developmental needs of the LGA and promised not shirk in his responsibility to see that they receive due attention during his tenure as governor.
Ambode assured Lagosians that he would run an all inclusive government where the less privileged and the rural communities will enjoy the dividend of democracy. He went on to promise to continue the massive transformation currently going on in Badagry and introduce more projects
The current SSG, Dr. Aderanti Adebule received Ambode at the Ojo local government area. He was in the company of former Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos state on rural development, Hon Paul Kalejaiye and other leaders of the party in the LGA
The aspirant, in his speech, reiterated the fact that Lagos needs a man who knows where the shoe currently pinches to take it to the next level. He assured that he was the best man for the job having served in the civil service of Lagos for 27 years, most of which he spent working among the people in virtually all the local governments in the state.
