Plans by the Lagos state Government to resume clamp down on ride-hailing companies which includes Uber and Bolt from the 20th of August as it enforces new regulations have been cancelled. The plans had initially created an atmosphere of panic among partner drivers and customers who use the services of the companies to move within the Lagos metropolis.
This development is coming after meeting of stakeholders of the ride-hailing companies, Abisola Odukoya of Bolt Nigeria, as well as Tola Odeyemi of Uber Nigeria, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation officials and the Lagos State Governor which ended with an agreement benefiting both parties.
The three-hour meeting which held on Friday at the State House in Marina, was attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu attended the discussion held . Lagos state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladehinde, confirmed to the media that new regulations were adopted after fine tuning the operational frame work of the companies. He said e-hailing operators would be paying N20 as Road Improvement Fund which will be levied on each trip all their drivers make in a day.
