The Mayegun of Yorubaland and Fuji Legend, K1 De Ultimate, in collaboration with The Isolo Local Council Development Area, The Fuji Musician Association of Nigeria (FUMAN), FUJI: A Opera, Supa Komando, The Temple Management Company, and Goldmyne TV, presents the inaugural Sikiru Ayinde Barrister's Colloquium on March 16th, 2022, at Radisson Blu, Ikeja.
The colloquium, which will be hosted by Gbenga Adeyinka, will feature an intimate talk series titled "Fuji Music: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow - The Impact of Sikiru Ayinde Barrister," as well as tributes and accolades from renowned Fuji artistes, prominent professors, and industry friends such as King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, and other key dignitaries whose lives have been impacted by his music.
Dr. Muiz Banire, a Notary Public and eminent legal scholar, and Professor Jeleel Ojuade, a Professor of Dance Studies at the University of Ilorin's Faculty of Arts, will also speak at the event.
Sikiru Ayinde Balogun, MFR, better known as Ayinde Barrister, is a Fuji and Wéré music pioneer. Following his initial musical foray in 1965.
Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister received numerous honors throughout his life and musical career, including the designation of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2006 by Nigeria's then-President Olusegun Obasanjo. In 1983, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in music by the City University of Los Angeles.
Barrister revolutionized traditional Yoruba music with Fuji Music, while maintaining traditional values such as good behavior, respect for elders, and resistance to life's forces. He frequently used his music to express his views on national issues, most notably politics.
