The Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Yobe State, Sani Inuwa-Nguru; three members of the State House of Assembly, and thousands of other members of the party have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP in the state, Sule Doguwa, said this on Sunday while addressing PDP supporters in Damaturu.
According to Mr. Doguwa, the three lawmakers are: Nasiru Yusuf, representing Damaturu Local Government Area; Kaigama Umar, representing Jakusko Local Government Area and Kachalla Mai-Hassan representing Gujba Local Government Area.
He said with the massive support that PDP was getting in the state, the party would win all positions in the February general elections.
Mr. Doguwa called on the party's supporters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to enable them vote in the polls.
Speaking of behalf of the defectors, Mr. Inuwa-Nguru said they took the decision in the best interest of the people of the state.
He said the people of the state were yearning for better leadership that would enhance their standard of living.
"I am, therefore, happy to formally announce our decision to dump the APC and join the PDP together with our over 10,000 supporters," Mr. Inuwa-Nguru said.
Earlier, the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Adamu Waziri, said the party had become a strong united entity had that made the high-profile members of APC in the state to join it.
The former Minister of Police Affairs said if elected, he would lead Yobe to become one of the best 12 states in the country.
